Melodias das Estrelas (Melodies of the Stars) performs a delightful blend of classic bossa nova, samba, choro, and original compositions.

We chose our name to reflect our admiration for the majesty of the stars, mirroring the wonder and beauty we strive to capture in our own music.

MEET THE BAND

Lillian Yee is a vocalist and instrumentalist known for her heartfelt and often playful interpretations of Bossa Nova. With over a decade of experience in the industry, she captivates audiences with her voice, bringing her love and appreciation of Brazilian music to life. Lillian performs in a vocal trio, Garotas da Lua, with her esteemed colleagues Sandy Cressman and Catia Lund and was formerly the vocalist of Blue Hour Duo, which was known for gathering and collaborating with the San Francisco Bay Area Brazilian music community. She continues to evolve her craft with passion as she strives to move audiences through her love for Brazilian music.

Mark Fishman is a percussionist who combines hand percussion with elements of drum set. He has been a performing member of the Brazilian music and dance company Fogo Na Ropa under the direction of Carlos Aceituno. Mark has also produced, written, and directed the dance/theater piece 'Favela,' which was performed in Bolinas, California in collaboration with Fogo Na Ropa. Additionally, he was a percussionist in Berlin, Germany's production of the theatrical play 'Woman in the Dunes,' adapted from the book written by the Japanese author Kobo Abe. This production was funded by the City of Berlin's Arts Program. Mark has also been a performing member of the group Brazilian Flavor, featuring vocalist Dandara from Salvador de Bahia.

Rebecca Hass, a pianist, composer, collaborative pianist, educator, and creative coach in the San Francisco Bay Area, is dedicated to creative curiosity and joy. With a deep passion for Brazilian rhythms, Rebecca has been part of the Brazilian music scene in the Bay Area for the last 5 years and performs solo shows of her compositions and arrangements. Her new album of original piano music, 'Bright Little Worlds,' is an imaginative, heart-filled collection of 22 compositions in various styles (Brazilian, jazz, impressionistic, neo-classical, and more) and features guest musicians Debbie Gold (flute) and Brian Rice (pandeiro).

Since making her Bay Area performance debut at the San Jose Jazz Festival in 2001, Laura Boytz has captivated audiences with her cello performances in a variety of Jazz and World Music ensembles across the Bay Area and several US states. Laura also serves as a cello ambassador for the innovative community Awesome Orchestra Collective. Her dynamic range of experience includes performances in Bay Area jazz, Brazilian, Latin American, fado, acoustic rock, and musical theater ensembles.
