Brazilian Music Friday Feature #26

Today's pick is from the pianist and flutist André Marques, who I just discovered, despite the fact that I love Hermeto Pascoal, and he's been playing with Hermeto's band for over 20 years! But, that will be remedied, because I'm in San Francisco right now to see them (along with the rest of the band) play at SFJazz tonight.

I got stuck in a pretty serious YouTube rabbit hole while trying to choose a song to feature, and, well, I couldn't choose. So, here's André Marques with John Patitucci and Brian Blade playing Bebê from their album Vivo Hermeto, and below that is his performance on SESC Instrumental Brasil, which features some of his originals, and many diverse Brazilian rhythms.

Enjoy the song, and your weekend!
